While I didn’t make Cathy’s headline gig for the Galway International Arts Festival, I did catch her wonderful set supporting Owen Pallett the previous week. Accompanied by Derren Dempsey on guitar, she played a range of material- mostly new stuff themed around animals. 210714-CathyCavey-0193_web

Brendan and Declan from ‘The 4 of Us’ performing in Monroes Live, Fri 10th Dec ’10.

Former Galway native Adrian Crowley played to a packed house at the Roisin Dubh, Mon 19th July for the Galway Arts Festival.

Quick shots from the Strange Brew gig the other night, in Roisin Dubh, before I move on. If I get time, I’ll try post galleries.

Here’s a shot of Larry Love from Alabama 3, best know for the use of the track ‘Woke Up This Morning’, used as the title track of The Sopranos.
They played in The Roisin Dubh tonight to a packed house. Last time they played, Larry was a cowboy hat wearing skin head.

I was mixing this gig, but I still fired off a few shots from the sound desk. Local band The Kanyu Tree.

Lord Bishop did rock last night in the Roisin Dubh. Starting with a miniscule audience, the crowd soon piled in to dance, drink and party.

Mixing a healthy does of sex and politics, songs like ‘Let’s get naked on the ground’ and ‘Senator Groove’ had the crowd going. As well as spreading the love, there was a healthy dose of Jack Daniels being shared with the audience. Towards the end of the gig, Lord Bishop knocked back the last drop, apparently ending the love fuel frenzy. There was no need to fear though, a second bottle instantly appeared and further fueled the funky grooves.

And so ends my music writing career.

Here’s a few recent live shots of Meteor Awarding singer, Imelda May.

Duke Special is always a treat musically when he comes around. Still from a work point of view, it’s a long day. By the time you’re done, you realise you’ve been on your feet for 10 hours with no real break. Tonight was no different in that regard and despite standing on a high stool peering into a bunch of cables an hour after I’ve normally finished, I still enjoyed the night.

And yes, I probably have too much of the centre focus in the shots, but I couldn’t find other crops I liked at short notice!
